Vacant Positions Filled on Murfreesboro City Council
Two appointments have been made to the Murfreesboro City Council. During Monday’s August meeting, aldermen voted to name Jim O’Neal to the vacant seat for West Ward Position Two and Jack Bonds was appointed to fill a vacancy from the North Ward, Position Two. O’Neal will serve through the end of this year. Two people are seeking the seat in the November election. Bonds is running unopposed in November, so he will begin serving now and continue for a two year term that starts in January.
The council also voted to make personnel changes in the Advertising and Tourism Committee. Bonds was appointed to the committee, as was Crater of Diamonds Park Superintendent Caleb Howell, assuming he will accept the appointment.
Police Chief Randy Lamb was given approval to purchase a new police vehicle to replace a 2011 Dodge Charger. Repairs to the vehicle’s engine are expected to cost upwards of eight thousand dollars and council members felt the money would be better spent on purchasing a new patrol vehicle.
