Waldo man arrested for trafficking a controlled substance
A Waldo man was arrested last month for trafficking a controlled substance that was reported to be fentanyl.
According to the affidavit, the suspect, identified as 24 year old Anthony James Cady, was pulled over on Hwy 26 by Pike County Sheriff’s K-9 handler Deputy Chris Gates along with SA Greg Harper of the 9th West Judicial Drug Task Force. Harper reported that Cady had a headlight that was inoperable and that was his reason for conducting the traffic stop.
It was reported that after Gates ran a query on Cady’s driver’s license, Gates removed his K-9 from his patrol vehicle and performed an air sniff on Cady’s vehicle. The K-9 then alerted the driver’s side front door. Harper reported that he observed Cady reach into his right front pocket and then remove his hand and attempt to place something in the fold of the front passenger seat which was identified as a silver round cylinder.
Harper then opened the lid of the silver cylinder and observed a white powdery substance. Deputy Gates then detained Cady for the suspected illegal narcotics. According to the report, Cady allegedly confessed to Deputies that the powdery substance was cocaine but was told that the pills had fentanyl in them. According to the report Cady had a total of 18 fentanyl pills, cocaine, and marijuana on him. Cady was transported to the Pike County Jail and was also charged with possession of a controlled substance cocaine and marijuana.
