Warrior Defeat Saints in Conference Play Girls teams split games

LOCKESBURG, ARK— Basketball was in full swing on Tuesday night in Lockesburg as Legacy Academy’s Warriors and Lady Warrior’s hosted the Saints of Garrett Memorial in Hope. In senior boys’ action the Warriors clinched a 70-44 victory. The Warriors came out strong outpacing the Saints 17-9 in the first quarter, followed by a second-quarter that was more evenly split with the visitors scoring 12 to Legacy’s 10. The Warriors led 27-21 at the half. After halftime, the home team started building up a serious lead by outscoring the Hope team 20-8 in the third quarter and 23-15 in the fourth. Number 22 for the home team, Ethan Gallagher led in scoring with 35 points, including hitting 4 out of 6 three-pointers. Gallagher also led in assists, enabling his teammates to get some great buckets for the Lockesburg club. Number 3, DJ Morris had 17 points for the Warriors and led the team with 15 rebounds. Gallagher had 8 rebounds while Layne Schroer grabbed 6. Schroer, Manolo Vazquez, Eli Mitchell, Joshua Tucker, Eli Hamilton, and Tristan Gerrald also scored for the home team, together putting an additional 18 points on the board. Tre Alexander scored 25 for the visitors, followed by Karson Hamilton with 16.
In their second year of senior girls basketball, the Lady Warriors took on a strong 10 and 6 Lady Saints team. The home team had a strong offensive night but fell short defensively against the Lady Saints’ powerful offense and big size down low. Dori Bartek led scoring for the home team with 21 points, followed by Grace Tucker who provided 16 points. Tucker also gave the team 10 rebounds and led the girls in assists, as well. Oaklee Lofton and Trinity Cox put points up for the Lady Warriors, as well. Katie Alexander scored 27 for the visitors.
Legacy’s junior girls gave the home crowd a 31-27 win in a game that went into overtime Tuesday night. The Lockesburg girls led decisively at the half 20-6 but were outscored 27-7 in the second half forcing the game into overtime. Two bucket in overtime by Lily Tucker and Oaklee Lofton secured the victory for the home team. Tucker gave the home team 15 points and five rebounds, while Lofton delivered 12 points and six rebounds. Josie Martz and Libbie Bartek also scored. Josie Martz led the board crashing tonight with 7 rebounds, while her sister Jesse grabbed 5.

The teams travel to Hot Springs on Friday, January 15th to take on Gospel Light.
