Warriors Bounce Bloomburg, Texas 66-23; Junior Teams beat Umpire

Legacy Academy’s teams whipped wildcats from two different schools at their homecoming Friday, December 9, 2022.  Legacy’s senior boys’ team coasted to victory over the Wildcats from Bloomburg, Texas, while the junior teams defeated nearby Umpire’s Wildcats. 

In Senior Boys’ action the Warriors took lead of the game in the first possession and never gave it defeating the Texas public school 66-23. Ethan Gallagher had a triple double for the night scoring 27 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Gallagher also had 7 steals. Layne Schroer had 9 points and 7 rebounds. Eli Hamilton gave the Warriors 8 points, including some fast break layups. Manolo Vazquez and Joshua Tucker both had seven points, followed by 6 from Eli Mitchell. Ozzy Tolendano rounded out the scoring with 2 points.  The Warriors play Horatio Monday night at Horatio and host Mt. Ida at home this Friday. The team’s record improved to 12-1.

In Junior boys’ play, the Lockesburg team defeated Umpire 42-31. The Warriors outscored the Wildcats each quarter, except the last when they worked the entire bench onto the court. Manolo Vazquez gave the home team 14 points, followed by 7 from Brayson Talley, and 6 each from Eli Mitchell, Wyatt Rode, and Everrette Martz. James Bartek scored three for the Warriors. #3 Brayam Salaices gave Umpire 19 of their points. The teams will meet again in January in Umpire. 

In the junior girls’ game, Legacy trailed at the half by 3 points. Umpire was up 11-8. The Lady Warriors came out of the locker room and dominated the second half, outscoring Umpire by 19 points. Legacy’s girls won the game with a final score of 38-26. Lilly Tucker led the home team’s scoring effort with 16 points, all in the second half of the game. Jesse Martz provided 11 points, followed by 8 from Libbie Bartek. Olivia Lofton and Skylar Alexander finished up the scoring with 2 and 1 points respectively.
