Wet/Dry issue certified for Pike County ballot
Pike County Clerk Randee Reid has certified a petition that would allow the manufacture or sale of alcoholic beverages in Pike County. The issue will now be placed on the November 8th General Election ballot. Reid announced Monday that 2,239 signatures were certified by her office.
She says the law requires that at least 38 percent of the county’s registered voters, as of June 1st, had to sign the petition for the issue to be placed on the ballot. A first attempt to secure enough valid signatures came up short, but as of Monday, Reid said the petition became valid. 2,168 signatures were required.
