Wilton man arrested for aggravated robbery
A Wilton man was arrested Wednesday evening June 7th, after officers of the Nashville Police Department received a call from an 84-year-old man Wednesday afternoon at approximately 2:10pm, saying he was held at gunpoint in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Nashville. The suspect was later identified as 22-year-old Elijah Thomas. According to police records, the victim stated that he and Thomas made arrangements via Facebook Marketplace in reference to buying a 2008 Dodge Pickup. As reported, the victim gave Thomas $3500 cash for the pickup and agreed to buy the pickup in exchange for the title to the pickup. It was reported that when the exchange was made, Thomas handed the victim the title then took the title back, got back into the pickup, then allegedly pulled a black pistol out of his pants pocket and pointed it at the victim. As reported, as Thomas was driving off, the victim was able to get the license number from the truck.
A BOLO was then sent out to surrounding counties and the Arkansas State Police spotted the suspect vehicle travelling South on Hwy 71 about a mile North of Wilton. Thomas was taken into custody, and the $3,500 cash along with the black pistol were recovered from the pickup. Thomas was transported back to the Howard County Jail where he was charged with Aggravated Robbery and Theft of Property.
