HMH opening new Pediatric Therapy Center April 5

Paul Cox and Jayla Jacques were the guest speakers at Wednesday’s Nashville Rotary Club meeting.

Cox is the director of the Howard Memorial Hospital physical therapy department. He has been a physical therapist for 22 years. Jacques is a speech therapist.

Cox announced the new HMH Pediatric Therapy Center will open Monday, April 5 on South 4th Street in Nashville. He also explained how the new facility will benefit the hospital’s pediatric therapy patients.

Cox said the building was remodeled and the Howard Memorial Foundation conducted a letter campaign at end of 2020 to help purchase equipment for the new facility. He said they have a playground loft that was built by the FFA department in De Queen and a ball pit.

Cox said the new facility will offer physical, occupational and speech therapy.

Jacques described some of the signs that may indicate a child needs speech therapy. Those signs include: perfecting sounds, combining words into sentences, things you should say and shouldn’t say in social settings and hearing issues.
