Mineral Springs Council Meets For March Session

Mineral Springs is planning a city wide clean up event next month. At Monday’s council meeting, mayor Steve Dixon said exact dates are still being determined.

During the April clean up, residents will be able to remove old furniture, appliances or other items from their house and set the items curbside. City crews will be going through town and hauling the items off free of charge. More details will be announced in the near future.

Mayor Dixon said the city is receiving bids this week on lawn care for the cemetery and the city park. Once the deadline has passed, council members will meet in special session Friday afternoon to award the bid.

Council members approved contributing one thousand dollars from the general fund to the volunteer fire savings account. The city made an initial investment of ten thousand dollars to the account. However, prior to Monday’s contribution, only 162 additional dollars has been added to the funds. The account was originally created to set money aside to purchase a truck or other equipment.
