2022 Primary Election Results

Just over 36 percent of Howard County’s registered voters cast a ballot through the primary election process.  Final, but unofficial totals from last night, show Howard County Sheriff Bryan McJunkins receiving nearly 85 percent of the vote in the race against Ryan Gilbert.  Sheriff McJunkins will face Jackie Thomas in November.  Thomas ran unopposed as a Democrat yesterday.

In the race for Howard County Judge, Kevin Smith had the most votes of the four candidates seeking the office.  He picked up 36 percent of the vote.  Brent Pinkerton finished with 30 percent of the vote.  They will participate in a runoff on June 21st.  Among the other two candidates, John Maines collected 23 percent of the vote and Steve nation had 11 percent

Within the city of Nashville, Lauren Hoen was narrowly elected city clerk, defeating Sherry Allen, by just nine votes.  For the Justice of the Peace District 4, Janet O’Neal was elected over Freddy Brown, receiving 72 percent of the votes cast.

Within the Nashville School District, Nick Britt was re-elected to a seat on the school board from Zone one.  Britt defeated Trey Branch, 54 to 46 percent.  Two Mineral Springs School Board seats were contested in Tuesday’s election, with Ricky Gamble and Mike Erwin being elected to board positions.

From the city of Mineral Springs, voters elected Bobby Tullis to return as mayor, defeating Vera Marks, 53 percent to 47 percent.

Voters in Howard County also helped elect Jana Bradford as Prosecuting Attorney.  In the 4 counties of the 9th West District, Bradford collected 58 percent of the vote to Mickey Buchanan’s 42 percent

In Pike County, voters re-elected Travis Hill as sheriff/collector.  Hill picked up 63 percent of the vote, while challenger, Roger “Bimbo” Flemens, received 37 percent.  In a Republican race for Pike County Assessor, Staci Stewart defeated Laramie Littles, with Stewart getting 62 percent of yesterday’s vote.
