The city of Dierks is pledging to work with a wireless internet provider to bring faster internet for residents in that area. Kevin Bridges, representing Premiere Broadband in Hope, visited with the Dierks City Council Monday evening to explain the service. As for pricing, Bridges referred to the system in Hope, where the monthly fee is just over $51.
The Dierks city attorney will review an agreement with the company to make sure there are no liabilities for the city, and the company would then proceed with seeking a grant from the state to pay for a majority of the equipment needed. Bridges said if all goes well, there is a slim possibility the wireless internet could be available in Dierks by the end of this year.
Bridges’ company has also received a grant to bring the service to Nashville and is in the process of working with several other towns in southwest Arkansas.
