Mineral Springs man arrested for assault

A Mineral Springs man has been arrested on assorted felony charges following an incident that happened late Tuesday night. Howard County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on Cottonshed Lane for a report of someone causing a disturbance. When Deputy Trent Coffman arrived, he identified the suspect as 59 year old James Leroy Marshall, who was still at the residence. Deputy Coffman said as he attempted to handcuff Marshall, he began pulling away and resisting. Deputy Coffman and Marshall had a brief struggle, before the deputy was able to detain Marshall on the ground until assistance arrived from the Mineral Springs Police Department.
Marshall was transported to the Howard County Jail and is being charged with Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member, First Degree Terroristic Threatening, Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, and Resisting Arrest.
