Traffic stop leads to discovery of stolen firearm
Nashville police say a traffic stop has led to the recovery of a stolen firearm and the arrest of one individual. Officer Greg Parker said he conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to use the turn signal and for having an unreadable paper license. During the process, Parker’s K-9 unit conducted an open air sniff of the vehicle and alerted police to narcotics being present. Officers removed the driver and three passengers and during a search of the vehicle, police said they recovered suspected marijuana and a stolen 9mm pistol that was loaded.
One of the passengers, identified as 23 year old Dennis Forte of Duncanville, Texas told police the drugs and gun were in his possession. Forte was arrested and transported to the Howard County Jail. He’s been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and with Theft By Receiving.
