Beekeeper speaks to Nashville Rotary Club
Wednesday afternoon, James Jones of Double J Farms was the guest speaker at the Nashville Rotary Club meeting.
Jones told KMTB that he got interested in beekeeping after hearing about the local beekeeping association on the radio.
Jones provided several facts about honeybees. He said there were 20,000 varieties of bees around the world and that honeybees were imported to the United States.
Jones said honey was the first candy and that they have found crystallized honey in an Egyptian tomb. It said is the only food that will last forever if you keep moisture out of it and honey is antibacterial. Jones said honeybees pollinate 80 percent of all crops and honey is listed 61 times in the Bible.
Jones said if you need bee removal, give him a call at 870-845-8759.
