South Pike County School Board revises ARP ESSR plan
Tuesday night, members of the South Pike County School Board met for their monthly meeting.
Superintendent Tanya Wilcher informed the board they would review the district’s test scores next month but said she was happy with the scores.
Board members approved a $500 stipend for mentors of first year teachers.
Board members also approved a $500 stipend for staff members who volunteered to serve as certified school security officers. Wilcher said this would allow the volunteers to purchase identical firearms and lockboxes with no out of pocket expenses.
Wilcher also presented the district’s revised American Rescue Plan ESSR plan. She informed the board that the state wanted every district in the state to give teachers and staff a one-time bonus of $5,000 out their ESSR funds. South Pike County’s revised plan details why the district is unable to fund that amount due to the fact that the district has contractually committed those funds to other projects.
