Nashville School District adds a fishing team to list of extracurricular activities
The Nashville School District is adding a fishing team to its list of extracurricular activities, beginning with the current school year. At Monday’s August school board meeting, Superintendent Doug Graham said the fishing team will be for male and female students at the junior high and senior high school levels. All five board members voted in favor of adding fishing to the district’s list of activities. Superintendent Graham said there’s no real investment on the part of the district, as equipment will be provided by team member’s parents. While the sport will see some action, fishing teams are more active during the spring months. Jimi Easterling, a former teacher and coach in the Nashville district, will serve as the school’s fishing team coach on a volunteer basis. Graham said the next step in the process will be organizational meetings to make more information available for students.
