Murfreesboro man arrested on drug related charges following traffic stop
On September 13, Murfreesboro Police Officer, Micah Brown conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Murfreesboro.
Brown informed the driver who was identified as Chelsea Hayslip that he pulled her over for an obstructed interior view. While speaking with Hayslip, Brown noticed a firearm on the center console.
Brown then asked the three occupants to step out of the vehicle. Hayslip informed Brown that she did not know about the gun and that her son was the passenger in the back seat.
While searching the front seat passenger, who was identified as 39-year-old Joseph Viola of Murfreesboro, Brown asked Viola if the gun was his. Viola admitted the firearm belonged to him. Viola was then asked if there was anything else in the vehicle. Viola allegedly told Brown there was a pipe in his bag.
While searching the bag, Brown found the pipe containing suspected methamphetamine residue and a lip gloss container containing a crystal-like substance in it. Officers also found a set of scales.
Viola was taken to the Pike County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance meth-cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia
