Nashville School District Hires Elementary Teacher
Monday, Superintendent Doug Graham discussed to the Nashville School Board about the renewal contract with Elior. This contract was in regard to the 2023-2024 School Year, School Food Authority Renewal of Food Service Management Company Contract. This would be the Third Year that the Nashville School District used Elior services. There was a motion made by Board Members David Hilliard and seconded by Jamar Finley to renew Elior Contract for Year Three.
Also during the meeting Graham discussed PPC changes due to the legislative session, for sections one and three. Graham stated that in one of the policies, starting in July 2023, every month two of the agenda items have to be academic achievements along with the PPC committee. Another change in the policy is that two or more members of the School Board can’t be on the same campus at the same time, for that is convened as a meeting. Graham said that one policy laid out guidelines on how to select PPC members. Another portion of the policy that was discussed was COVID conduct, the Teacher Fair dismissal Act, and maternity leave. There was a motion by Board Members Jamar Finley and seconded by David Hilliard to consider PPC changes of sections one and three.
Graham also recognized Luis Maya and FCCLA for the Scrapper moment.
Maya talked about what FCCLA means to him.
FCCLA Advisor Christy Hanney took a moment to recognize the Nashville Junior High FCCLA Chapter. Hanney reported that the organization has participated in numerous activities, done numerous community service projects such as Operation Christmas Child. Hanney stated that they have attended the State FCCLA Conference in April and have received several honors while they were there.
In conclusion of the meeting the Board approved a motion to accept resignations of NES Teacher Rachelle Erwin, NJHS Teacher Terra Morgan, and Kimberly Dunham as ESOL Coordinator along with the employment of Monica Wallace as Elementary Teacher. All were in favor of the motion.
