Murfreesboro Rattlers becomes 3-2A Conference Champs

Thursday night, the Mineral Spring Hornets and Murfreesboro Rattlers battled it out for the Conference Championship in the 3-2A Conference.

Both teams had a scoreless 1st and 2nd Quarter but Rattler Lathan Compton scored the first touchdown in the game in the third quarter putting the Rattlers up 6 to nothing.

On the ensuing kickoff, Hornet Javion Fricks scored on a 65 yard run to tie the score 6 a piece.

After so many turnovers and fumbles in the 4th quarter the game ended in a 6-6 tie and went into overtime.

In the overtime period, Rattler Quarterback Laytan Wilcher connected with Cash Lowery on a pass to the corner of the endzone putting the Rattlers up 12 to 6.

The Rattler defense would step up and stop the Hornets inches from the endzone to secure the conference championship and the number one seed in the 2A State Playoffs.
