Road closure between Dierks and Center Point
A spokesperson with the Arkansas Department of Transportation announced Arkansas Highway 278 will be closed to thru traffic between Dierks and Center Point on Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10 while Patriot Railroad replaces the railroad crossing near Old Tram Road about 5 miles south of Dierks.
ARDot has established a detour that will allow big trucks to stay on state highways. They will need to travel east on Highway 70 from Dierks to Newhope and turn south onto Highway 369. From Center Point, big trucks will need to travel east on Highway 26 and turn north onto Highway 369.
Local motorists can bypass the railroad construction by traveling through the Possum Hollow community. From Dierks, motorists can travel south on Oak Hill Road to Possum Hollow Road and then turn east onto Highway 26.
Flashing signs are currently in place to inform motorists of the pending road closure.
