Dierks City Council approves 2024 budget

Monday night, the Dierks City Council approved the 2024 budget.

Mayor Ronnie Cogburn reported the budget contains a 5 percent raise for city employees. He said the council also approved a $400 Christmas bonus for the employees.

Council members voted Monday night to increase the residential trash rate by $4. Cogburn said the old rate was $14 a month, it will now be $18 a month. The commercial rate for businesses was increased from $20 a month to $25 a month.

Cogburn said the new trash service provider, County Trash Service of Broken Bow, Oklahoma started last week. He said it has not been without some bumps in the road, but he feels it is getting better.
