No Shave November

Today marks the beginning of November and for men all across the state that means one thing. No touching the razor for the next 30 days. No Shave November has been a trending tradition for some time now. Today i’ll highlight 2 groups in particular that are participating in this initiative and the cause they support in doing so.

First, The Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation. They are challenging men across the state to ditch the shaving cream and razor for a month to help raise awareness about prostate cancer. One in every nine men in Arkansas will face a diagnosis of prostate cancer in their lives, but the disease is nearly 100% survivable if detected early. That’s why the Arkansas prostate Cancer Foundation is asking the men of Arkansas to go 30 days without shaving for a good cause. Chris Collier, executive directo of the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation, says its critical to raise awareness regarding prostate cancer and inform folks of the free services to those diagnosed with it.

Again a great cause if to nothing else at least stir up more conversation to make people aware. No Shave November takes on many good intentions and here in Nashville its being done by none other than our boys in blue. That’s right, the Nashville Police Department released a statement saying that if you happen to notice some “scruffy” officers over the coming month to not think them unprofessional. In fact, the officers participating are doing so to support our local “Shop with a Cop” for this upcoming Christmas season. Each officer participating is required to obtain 6 sponsors each at $25 with all the funding going towards the kiddos for Christmas. If you’re interested in sponsoring a Nashville Police Officer stop by the police station or speak to an officer.
