Traffic stop in Pike County leads to arrest
On December 15th, 2023, Pike County Deputy Bret Reid was advised by Deputy Brandon Vines of a Maroon Nissan Armada sitting at the gas pumps at the EZ Mart in Glenwood with fictitious tags.
According to the report, Deputy Vines ran the suspects tags through dispatch, and the vehicle returned to a Gold Chevrolet Van. Deputy Reid then observed the vehicle leaving EZ Mart and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver was identified as Pantera French, but while deputies were speaking with French, Vines asked passenger 26-year-old Brad Cogburn of Glenwood to exit the vehicle and while doing so a gun holster fell onto the ground. Deputies reportedly conducted a search on the vehicle, Reid lifted a backpack up that was sitting in the middle of the floor directly behind the center console, and there was a .22 revolver pistol laying underneath it.
It was also reported that during an ACIC check, it showed Cogburn to be a felon. Cogburn was placed under arrest and transported to the Pike County Jail. Cogburn was charged for possession of firearms by certain persons.
