Vehicle Crash Damages Smoker Friendly Store in Nashville Due to Brake Failure
A car crash early Wednesday morning, November 13th, caused significant damage to the Smoker Friendly store in Nashville, after the vehicle’s brakes failed, sending it into the storefront.
According to a report from Lieutenant Clinton Tedford, the incident occurred around 10:25 a.m. at 401 S. Main St., where Patricia Erby, the driver of a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe, was attempting to park outside the store. As Erby approached the entrance, the vehicle’s brakes reportedly failed, causing the car to jump the sidewalk and crash into the building.
The collision caused extensive damage to the front of the store, including the glass doors, front windows, and several items of merchandise inside. No injuries were reported, but the damage to the business was substantial.
Erby was issued a citation for not providing proof of insurance at the scene. The vehicle was towed by Bypass Wrecker, and a subsequent inspection confirmed that the Hyundai had no functioning brakes at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation, but no further legal actions have been reported as of now. The store is expected to assess the damage and determine the extent of repairs needed.
Erby’s vehicle was removed from the scene without further incident. Authorities are advising motorists to ensure their vehicles are in safe working condition to prevent accidents like this from occurring in the future.
