Sharpe’s Department Store Celebrates Retirement of Longtime Manager Jacala Lathrop
A heartfelt farewell was held Friday for Jacala Lathrop, longtime manager at Sharpe’s Department Store in Nashville, as she celebrated her retirement after 24 years of service.

Lathrop, a Nashville native, began her career at Sharpe’s in 2001. Known for her leadership and dedication, she has been a familiar face to both staff and customers for more than two decades. Last August, she also celebrated another major milestone—her 50th wedding anniversary and she is the mother of two.
During the retirement celebration, Lathrop spoke about her time at Sharpe’s and shared who will be stepping into her role.
As for her plans after retirement, Lathrop is looking forward to some well-deserved rest—and a new chapter. She mentioned spending more time with family.
Lathrop also took a moment to thank those who have supported her throughout her career.
