Relay For Life Likely To Discontinue Local Event

39 thousand dollars was raised for cancer research last year by the Howard County Relay For Life. While there will still be teams raising money again in 2020, it appears there will be no Relay For Life event. Organizers met Tuesday evening in Nashville. Joanna Howard, who has served as the event chairperson for over a decade, announced she is stepping down from her position. Current plans are for a few teams to continue the fund raising efforts and a team captains meeting will be held quarterly.

Howard said it’s possible that if someone shows interest in becoming chairperson, the annual relay event could continue.
