Area Election Results
4,830 people cast a ballot during the General Election process in Howard County. Final, but unofficial totals Tuesday night, had county voters favoring Donald Trump for President, receiving nearly 70 percent of the vote. In the U.S. 4th Congressional District, Congressman Bruce Westerman received over 71 percent of the votes in Howard County. Locally, Senator Tom Cotton also had the favor of residents, getting 76 percent of votes.
In the three statewide issues, Howard County voters went along with the state trends, in supporting the sales tax for roads and amending the state’s term limits. County voters also rejected a proposal that would have changed how amendments are placed on the ballot.
In neighboring counties, Pike County’s local races included Richard Mohlenoff receiving 51 percent of the vote among three candidates for Pike County J.P. District 7. In Daisy, Douglas Cochran won a seat to Position 4 on the city council. From the town of Delight, Valerie Wingfield was elected as Alderman Position Two, and in Murfreesboro, Jame “Cody” Bachmann was elected to a seat on the city council for West Ward Position Two.
In Sevier County, voters easily approved the sale of alcoholic beverages.
