AGFC Secures Private Land for Dove Hunting in Southwest Arkansas

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has announced that Southwest Arkansas is being served this dove season by the addition of a private field in Lafayette County specifically for dove hunting. The program overseeing this is in its fifth year and began with one field in Lonoke County. Last year marked the first year for AGFC biologists to obtain a private field in northeast Arkansas, and this year’s addition of southwest Arkansas please James “Bo” Reid, an AGFC private lands biologist who oversees the program. 16 permits will be drawn for this opportunity on a 40 acre field of sunflowers. Winners drawn may hunt at season open on September 4th-5th as well as September 11-12, and 18th-19th. Applications for this hunt require a $5 processing fee and are currently open until August 15th. Drawing of these permits will take place on August 18th. Winning hunters are allowed to bring one hunting partner with them to enjoy the hunt. To apply visit AGFC.com
