Area Basketball Teams Heading To Regionals

The Nashville Scrappers finished as the 7-4A District Basketball Tournament runners-up Saturday night losing to Malvern by a final of 71 to 69. Also at the tournament Saturday afternoon, the Scrapperettes secured the third seed in the girls division with a 45 to 41 win over Bauxite.

At the 7-2A District Tournament, the Dierks Outlaws beat Acorn, 70 to 54, to win the championship and gain the number one seed heading into this week’s regionals.

Games involving area teams include both Nashville squads playing Warren Thursday at the 4A South Tournament. The boys game begins at 5:30 and the Scrapperettes will play at 7:00 PM in Crossett. A win in their opening round games will put the teams in next week’s state tournament.

At the 2A South Regional in Fordyce, Dierks will play Parkers Chapel in a boys game Wednesday at 5:30. Murfreesboro will face Junction City Wednesday night at 8:30 and the Murfreesboro girls play Springhill Thursday afternoon at 4:00.

The Class A regional tournament is being held this week at Caddo Hills. The Wednesday schedule will include girls games between Emerson and Blevins at 4:00 PM along with Kirby playing Dermott at 7:00. The Kirby boys will face Strong Wednesday night at 8:30.
