Area Districts dealing with coronavirus
Members of the Mineral Springs School Board approved the minutes from their November regular board meeting and their special called meeting.
Board members also approved the financial statement. The district received $2.2 million dollars in property tax receipts from the AEP/Swepco’s Turk Power Plant.
Superintendent Billy Lee informed Southwest Arkansas Radio that the district has had a limited number of COVID cases and most of them involved adults and not students.
Lee also reported he felt the district has done a good job with the on-line learning.
The Dierks School District is also starting to be impacted by COVID-19 cases on a slightly larger scale as we move closer to the Christmas break. Superintendent Jody Cowart has expressed some concern about the possibility of even higher numbers following the break. He says the Dierks district is following all state protocols & guidelines related to COVID-19 & will be ready in the event any classes, grades, or the entire district goes to the virtual learning method during the remainder of the school year.
Dierks officials have announced the cancellation of its basketball games this week involving Murfreesboro and Foreman, due to COVID-19 concerns in all the communities. The games are scheduled to be made up at a later date.
