Area Schools Seeking To Host Regional And State Tournaments

The Arkansas Activities Association will meet Thursday to award basketball and spring sports tournament site bids. In basketball, Dierks is one of four locations seeking to host the 2A South Regional Tournament. Kirby High School is also bidding to host both the 1A regional and state tournaments. If Kirby gets the bid, those tournaments would be played at Lake Hamilton.

For the spring sports, Nashville is bidding to host 4A regional and state tournaments for both baseball and softball and the 4A State track meet.
Nashville is the only school bidding to host the regional baseball and softball tournaments but is one of five districts seeking the state tournaments. Other schools bidding against Nashville include Harrison, Robinson, Morrilton, and Valley View.

The bid announcements will be made Thursday afternoon at two p.m. in Little Rock.
