Area teams advance to state basketball tournaments

Nashville enters the 4A State Basketball Tournament this week with a two game losing streak. After being defeated by Star City Friday afternoon, the Scrapperettes also lost Saturday morning against Watson Chapel in the regional tournament’s consolation game, 38 to 34.
Nashville led in Saturday’s game 26 to 19 at the half, but only scored 6 points in the third quarter. They scored just two more points in the final period, with those last points not coming until there was about a minute left to go in the contest.
The Scrapperettes take the 4th seed into this week’s state tournament at Morrilton. Their first game will come Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock against Pea Ridge, which lost their regional tournament finals game in overtime to Morrilton Saturday afternoon.
Murfreesboro and Dierks will be represented this week during the 2A state tournament at Melbourne. The Lady Rattlers are scheduled to play Cotter tomorrow afternoon at 4 o’clock, while the Dierks Outlaws will face Acorn in a boys game Wednesday afternoon at one o’clock.
