Area Traffic Fatalities

Two people were killed in separate vehicle accidents in the region this weekend. Friday night, 64 year old Steven Cox of Emmet died when his pickup left Highway 8 in Montgomery county, near Caddo Gap. State police said Cox’s vehicle struck and embankment and a large sign. He was transported to a Hot Springs hospital where he later died from his injuries.
In Hempstead county, a Saturday morning accident in the DeAnn community claimed the life of 50 year old John Prater from Hot Springs. Arkansas State Police said Prater was traveling on Hempstead County Road 207. His vehicle left the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned. Prater was ejected from the vehicle.
