Filing Period Open For Numerous Area Positions

Filing is underway for the at-large five year Dierks school board seat that’s currently held by Dillard “Bubba” McSpadden. The filing period opened at noon Monday. Signed petitions may be returned to the Howard County Clerk’s office until noon, August 3rd. The Dierks board seat is the only school board seat in Howard County that is open for filing.

Several municipal positions in Howard and Pike counties will be available in the November election. These include five city council seats at Tollette, the recorder/treasurer position in Mineral Springs and all six city council seats and the recorder/treasurer ‘s position in Dierks.

Filing for the municipal positions can begin at noon tomorrow with the deadline to file being noon, August 5th.

The same filing period also applies to municipal offices in Pike County. These positions at Murfreesboro include recorder/treasurer and all six city council seats. Positions on the ballot from Glenwood include the recorder/treasurer and the Northwest Position One and Southwest Position One seats on the city council. The towns of Delight and Antoine will also each have five city council seats to be elected in November.
