Arkansas resident finds 9.07 carat diamond
The Crater of Diamonds State Park reported yesterday that a Maumelle resident found a 9.07 carat diamond while visiting the park on Labor Day. 33 year old Kevin Kinard said the found the diamond in the southeast portion of the searching area. Kinard picked up a marble-sized crystal that had a rounded, dimpled shape. He said It kind of looked interesting and shiny, so he put it in his bag and kept searching. Kinard said he thought the stone might have been glass, but it turned out to be the second largest diamond ever found, since the crater became a state park in 1972.
