Arkansas State Parks – “First Day Hikes”

The Arkansas State Parks are promoting their “First Day Hikes” to welcome in the new year. This year for First Day Hikes, Arkansas State Parks will offer guided hikes at many locations, as well as encourage self-guided walks and hikes throughout the “First Weekend,” being January 1st and 2nd for those who would like to explore on their own. In Murfreesboro, at the Crater of Diamonds State Park, a guided hike will take place around the mine to learn about areas of significance around the park this will begin at 10:30 a.m.. Millwood State Park will be offering a guided hike as well beginning at the trailhead parking lot just off the entrance road beginning at 2 p.m..And in Hempstead county at the Historic Washington State Park an easy 1-mile walk around the town will be offered for a unique guided tour. This nationwide event occurs in all 50 states and focuses on helping to encourage and build healthy habits and lifelong memories.
