Burn ban issued for Pike County

The number of burn bans among southwest Arkansas counties is growing. Yesterday afternoon, a burn ban was issued for Pike County, which now joins Howard and Hempstead counties in prohibiting outdoor burning. In the city of Nashville, rainfall has been below normal each month for the past five months. At the end of January, Nashville had received 10 and 26 hundredths inches of rain. Normal rainfall over that time period is 22 and 27 hundredths inches. Rainfall in February has been above normal so far, by about half an inch.
