Chesshir sworn in a new Circuit Court Judge

Former prosecuting attorney Bryan Chesshir was sworn in as a new Circuit Judge for the 9th West District. Chesshir’s oath of office, administered by retiring judge, Charles Yeargan, followed an investiture ceremony hosted by Yeargan and Judge Tom Cooper. Judge Yeargan offered several words of advice to Chesshir, and Judge Cooper spoke about his longstanding personal friendship with Chesshir, dating back to when Cooper was prosecuting attorney for the district and hired Chesshir to be his deputy prosecutor in Howard and Pike counties.
Prior to taking the oath of office, Chessir said he is hoping to take a wealth of knowledge into the position from the judge’s he worked with during his time as a prosecutor.

After completing the judicial oath, Judge Chesshir was robed by his wife, Kayla. He then swore in Judge Cooper and Howard County District Court Judge, Jessica Steel Gunter.
