City of Mineral Springs approves 2023 Water Audit

Monday, the Mineral Springs City Council conducted their regular monthly meeting.

During the meeting, aldermen passed a motion to accept the approval of the 2023 Water Audit as presented by Kathy Jones along with the destruction of the 2014 Documentation as presented by Kathy Jones as well.

Director of Public Works, Eric Marks stated that the city is undergoing a clean-up process. Marks informed the council that he had about 25 residents that needed trash picked up, mowing, or bush hogging, or condemned. Now he’s down to 16 properties and he has reached out the owners of these said properties to see if they could get these properties in compliance with the ordinance.

Marks said that they are trying to get different companies to come to town in hopes that properties will be purchased to bring more businesses into town.

Council Member Earle Hadden has proposed that the citizens use the Code Red App more which will enable residents to receive alerts about local events or incidents near their homes. Hadden mentioned that Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton and Emergency Management Coordinator Roddy Smith are open to attending the next council meeting to discuss the registration process for the Code Red alert system.
