City of Mineral Springs prepares for city wide cleanup
Monday the Mineral Springs City Council held their regular monthly meeting.
Mayor Bobby Tullis informed the council that he had to meet with the highway department. Tullis stated that the bids that they got for the paving project, which is something that they get with a grant every three years, was $72,000 which is above what they were asked to pay.
After further discussion the council decided to cut 25 percent of the project and not have to come up with the $72,000 dollars. Tullis explained what streets he plans on paving.
After Tullis presented his idea, the council was in agreement with the plan. Treasurer Denise Juniel also mentioned that there will be a free city wide clean up starting now until April 5th and if anyone in the Mineral Springs area would like to be placed on the list for weekly pickup, they can call 870-287-4230.
Mineral Springs Fire Chief Chris Hostetler reported that for the month of February, his department had a total of six calls and two drills. Out of those six calls, five were 1st responders and one was brush/grass fire calls. The department also had eight hours of fire service and safety special training.
Chief of Police Francisco Mercado reported that he had a total of 10 citations for the month of February. It was also reported that they had seven offense reports, two accidents, and one misdemeanor arrest.
