De Queen Police Investigating Death of 6-Year-Old, Suspect Arrested

The De Queen Police Department, along with the Arkansas State Police and South-Central Drug Task Force, is investigating the death of a 6-year-old male juvenile that occurred on Monday, January 27, 2025, in De Queen.

According to a press release from De Queen Police Chief Scott Simmons, officers were dispatched to Walker Pediatric Care after reports of an unresponsive juvenile. The child was transported to Sevier County Medical Center, where he was tragically pronounced deceased.

Following further investigation, a suspect was identified as 25-year-old Jesus Chavez-Arellano of De Queen. Chavez-Arellano has been charged with 1st degree murder and is currently being held in the Sevier County Detention Center.

As the investigation is ongoing, the De Queen Police Department has stated that additional information will be released as it becomes available.

The case remains under investigation by local and state authorities.
