De Queen Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Arrest
De Queen, AR – A routine traffic stop in De Queen on July 30 ended with the arrest of 45-year-old Brint Chancellor on felony drug charges, according to a press release from the Ninth West Judicial Drug Task Force.
An Arkansas State Police trooper pulled over a vehicle in De Queen last week. During the stop, the trooper noticed that Chancellor, a passenger in the vehicle, appeared to be trying to conceal something.
The trooper, aware that Chancellor had a search waiver due to his parole conditions, proceeded to search him. The search reportedly uncovered a bag of fentanyl, a bag of methamphetamine, and another bag of fentanyl designed to mimic an oxycodone pill. Authorities estimate that Chancellor was in possession of 15 grams of fentanyl in total.
Chancellor was arrested and taken to the Sevier County Jail. He faces charges of trafficking a controlled substance and two counts of possession with intent to deliver.
The Ninth West Judicial Drug Task Force is issuing a warning to the public about blue pills found in public areas, which traffickers are now using to disguise fentanyl as prescription oxycodone. This dangerous tactic is becoming increasingly common and is contributing to a rise in overdose deaths.
Residents who encounter such pills are urged to report them to their local sheriff’s office or police department.
Under Arkansas law, trafficking fentanyl is a serious offense, with penalties ranging from 25 to 60 years or even life in prison for just one gram of the substance.
