Deer Scouting
Bow season opens up Saturday September the 25th in Arkansas marking the opening day for the 2021-2022 deer hunting season. Hunters interested in scouting a new piece of land this year have the opportunity to look at the recently released 2020-2021 Arkansas Deer Summary Report. This report, produced each year by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Deer program coordinators includes data collected from checked harvests as well as voluntary hunter surveys during the season. This data gives valuable insight into what deer in a certain area look like such as average body weight and antler size as well as the ratio of bucks to does and when and how they were harvested by zone or county. This allows hunters to statistically pick an area that best serves their hunting preferences. To view this report, and many others provided by the Arkansas Game and Fish Comission, visit AGFC.com
