Howard County Court

Howard County Court met this week seeing 42 year old Marshall Ray Counts of Dierks. Counts faces 1 Class D felony for Aggravated assault against family or household members. Facts constituting reasonable cause are as follows:

On October 16th, (a minor who will remain unnamed for his safety) reported to a cousin and his grandfather that his mother’s live-in boyfriend, Marshall Counts, had placed a rifle to his head. He told the grandfather that he was cleaning a shotgun and lost a piece and this angered Counts. The minor then said Counts then retrieved a rifle and began waving it around and placed the barrel of the rifle to his head. It was reported that this incident took place in Howard County.

Investigator for the Howard County Sheriff’s Department, Joey Davis, spoke with the mother of the child who recalled the incident and that Counts became so angry she got between them as Counts was waving a gun around. Counts has since been arrested and made his first appearance in court on Wednesday. A not guilty plea has been entered according to court documents. His pretrial has been set for January 5th and a Jury Trial set for February 1st.

Also in court this week was 21 year old Cameron Walker of Hope. Walker has been in and out of court this year facing a felony charge of Battery in the 1st degree after shooting Nadorian Morrison in November of last year. This act brought Walker a sentence of 12 years within the Arkansas Department of Corrections with 8 years suspended plus court costs. Walker is awaiting transportation to the state facility and currently resides in the Howard County Jail.
