Dierks City Council passes 2021 budget
The Dierks city budget for 2021 was approved Monday night during the first council meeting of the year. Revenue from general fund items will total more than $739,000 dollars. Numbers from other departments within the city include $28,000 dollars in the Park fund, $49,723 dollars in the Fire Department fund, and almost $106,000 dollars of revenue is expected from the Dierks street fund. Expenses for each department will equal the revenue amounts. The budget includes a two percent pay increase for employees.There was also discussion about getting bids on a new police vehicle. A pickup used for the department is beginning to have minor repairs needed and council members want to work toward purchasing a new unit.
Monday’s meeting included an executive session to discuss a personnel matter. Upon returning to the open meeting, aldermen voted move water, street and sanitation employee Brett Muse from an hourly employee to a salaried exempt status, with a salary set at $45,000 dollars.
