Howard Memorial Hospital Board

Howard Memorial Hospital Board met Tuesday evening for the consideration of new hires. After discussion the topic was tabled with Mark Kitchens commenting they are in no rush to make a decision and that he feels taking the time to make the right hire is important.

The board also discussed the current tobacco policy. Formerly employees of the hospital were required to not partake in the use of tobacco products and were randomly tested for such to ensure compliance. Moving forward the board made the decision to do away with that rule and the random tobacco testing. The policy for tobacco use on the hospital campus is still in place, said Kitchens, as that is in compliance with Arkansas law.

The HR department is making plans to reevaluate the dress code in order to make more appropriate and comfortable changes moving forward. And also for the HR department the decision was made to divert the chain of command concerning HR directly to the board. This will be done to be on par with how most corporate entities run business.
