Dierks Council Meets In May Session

New water meters for the city of Dierks are expected to arrive later this month. Mayor Ronnie Cogburn told the city council Monday that more than 600 of the new radio read meters are scheduled to be in May 29th. Installation is expected to begin the following week. The new meters, giving city employees the ability to gather information from their vehicle instead of stopping at each meter, cost the city about 158 thousand dollars. The city will make seven annual payments to complete the purchase.

The mayor reported that repairs had been made to the water plant.

Bryan White was given approval to do a month’s mowing around the sewer plant. The cost is expected to be a thousand dollars.

The resignation of ward three council member Chase Quinn was accepted. Quinn has moved outside the city and is now longer eligible to serve. Bobby Neal has been chosen as Quinn’s replacement. Neal is expected to be sworn in next month.
