Dierks School Board approves master plan
Thursday during the Dierks School Board regular monthly, the board approved three transfers into the district that was out of the Cossatot River School District.
Superintendent Grover Hill reported to the board that he received an email that was in regard to the weight room, batting cage, and other items that needed to be added to the master plan. Hill said the architectural drawings have been sent over to the state department and all that was left to do was the approval of the resolution. After further discussion, the board voted unanimously to approve the resolution to add the weight room to the master plan as presented by Superintendent Hill. Hill also mentioned that the district has three days to makeup, and he suggested that April 19th, 2024, be set as a makeup day and Hill hopes to make up the remaining two days on two Mondays before they start testing.
JoAnn Walters Elementary School Principal Craig Dodson reported that six committees are being formed to operate within the school. Forms were sent to staff for volunteers and had explanations of the various committees. Dodson also reported that consultants had one full day with him, and they went and visit every classroom while teachers were actively teaching to do a couple of minutes of observation. Dodson said he expressed to the consultants his thoughts, concerns, and ideals as far as curriculum, High Quality Instruction Materials. Dodson stated that they plan on hearing from every teacher to get their thoughts and needs when it comes to curriculum.
Dodson also took a moment to discuss the 1003 funds that they received which he said would be spent with National Institute for Excellence in Teaching rather than Solution Tree.
Dodson also reported that the iReady testing deadline has been extended to February 2nd due to the weather. In conclusion, the board approved a motion to adopt a resolution that was in regard to approving ACT 1240 waiver request process.
