Dierks School Board Meeting

During a meeting earlier this week, the Dierks school board voted to hire Legacy Construction Management Company to oversee the upcoming elementary building project.

Board members approved the classified Personal Policy Committee’s proposal concerning sick leave and also approved the classified salary schedule pertaining to the new minimum wage requirements which go into affect in January.

The board also voted to accept a bid of $19,177.75 from White River Services and Solutions for the purchase of seven Promethean boards and accessories. The purchase will be made with the $20,000 grant funds that the district received from Weyerhaeuser.

JoAnn Walters Elementary Principal Lori Finley reported the elementary school expanded the CARE program this year to ten teams that include every sixth grade student.

Finley said CARE stands for Commit to serve others, Appreciate our awesome school, Respect all staff, and Encourage and be an example to others.

Finley said the CARE teams give students a purpose to lead and serve.

High school principal, Todd Finley reported 40 FCCLA students participated in the FCCLA District meeting in Hope with five students qualifying to compete in the state Star events.

Finley also reported FCCLA students raised over $1,000 to ship and deliver gifts to an orphanage in Texarkana.
