Dierks School Board Special Meeting
The Dierks school board met in a special session Monday (Nov 4th) to approve the closing documents on their new bond issue. Voters approved the millage extension in September to provide additional funding for the construction and equipping of six new classrooms on the JoAnn Walters Elementary School campus The distinct also plans to use the funds to replace HVAC systems, repair roofs, improve parking lots and campus safety and also for other building maintenance. Dan Lovelady of First Security was present to explain the bond issue. He reported the new bond would mature in 2049 and would refund two existing bonds, leaving the district with approximately $1.9 million dollars in construction funds. Superintendent Jody Cowart said the district hopes to break ground on the construction project near the end of the current school year.
