Dierks School District hires a new girls’ basketball coach
April 20th, the Dierks School Board held a special called meeting to hire a new girls basketball coach.
Board members voted to hire Will Steward as the new girls coach. Steward was the girls coach at Russellville High School this season and led the team to the 5A state basketball tournament. He coached the previous year at 1A Norfork High School, where he won over 120 games in five years, including a state championship in 2022.
Steward graduated from Shirley High School and Arkansas Tech University.
Board members also voted to hire Steward’s wife, Cheyenne Steward. She will serve as a part-time elementary P.E. Teacher and a part-time high school Special Education teacher.
Cheyenne Steward has worked in the Norfork School District and the Russellville School District. And, she has a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Southern Arkansas University.
Board members also accepted the resignation of Brad Bray from the Dierks High School.
